EXPLORING SENTIENCE AND IMPLICIT BIAS IN AI:
What IP Counsel Needs to Know
Artificial intelligence has been all over the news lately. An engineer claims that Google’s AI chatbot is sentient and biased. Courts and the Copyright Office are being asked to consider whether AI-created content may be subject to copyright and patent protection. Our panel of esteemed experts, including Lourdes Fuentes, founder and CEO of Karta Legal LLC; James Lee, CEO of Legalmation; Amanda Levendowski, Associate Professor of Law and founding Director of the Intellectual Property and Information Policy Clinic at Georgetown Law; with Joshua Pollack, IP Counsel at Nixon Peabody as moderator, will explore implicit bias in artificial intelligence and how to help reduce such bias, and also where the line may ultimately be drawn on IP protection for partially AI-created works.
Los Angeles Intellectual Property Law Association (provider #2083) certifies that this event has been approved for MCLE credit by the State Bar of California in the amount of 1.0 hour for implicit bias and the promotion of bias reducing strategies.
