COPYRIGHT AND MUSIC:
THE BASICS AND BEYOND
Did you know there is a separate copyright for the sound recording and the composition of a song? Have you ever wondered what a compulsory mechanical license is, what a “PRO” is, or that there are various licenses that one must obtain to use a piece of music in film or television show? Are there any clear decisions from the courts to guide us concerning what uses of music will constitute copyright infringement? Come join our expert panel, who will explain the basics of copyright and music, and will discuss the array of complex issues that arise in copyright infringement cases involving music.
